YOLO

In the United States, uninsured and low-income adults experience substantial health and healthcare inequities when compared with insured and higher-income individuals. A new analysis of the Commonwealth Fund 2010 Biennial Health Insurance Survey shows that when low-income adults have both health insurance and a medical home, they are less likely to report cost-related access problems, more likely to be up-to-date with preventive screenings, and report greater satisfaction with the quality of their care. This reduces gaps in health care between them and higher-income populations significantly.
Socioeconomic conditions commonly experienced by low-income populations such as polluted environments, inadequate housing, absence of public transportation, lack of educational and employment opportunities, and unsafe working conditions also contribute to inequitable health outcomes.

The aim of Dr. Paul Memorial’s health initiative programs is to reach out to vulnerable groups in urban areas and underserved rural international communities by providing needed health services (primarily alternative health) and education, to enhance the lives we serve. These programs will advance our mission and provide a breadth of services that our participants otherwise would not regularly receive.
